Turkey surpassed all countries in the region with an annual food price increase of 28.8% in September. In Colombia, which ranks second in food inflation after Turkey, this rate was 12.4%. Australia followed Colombia with 10.6% food inflation. Except for Turkey, Colombia and Australia, no country has reached double-digit food inflation among OECD countries.

Tevfik Türk, President of the Izmir Chamber of Agricultural Engineers, stated that food prices will continue to increase and explained the reason with the following words; "All our main expenses, from fertilizer to pesticides, are based on imports and their prices increase as the dollar rate increases. In logistics, we are dependent on foreign countries at every stage, from boxes to diesel. In addition to these, the manufacturer now adds the highway and bridge costs to the sales price. Because highway and bridge costs have also become a serious expenditure item. Because of all these, food prices are coming to our table exponentially."
